Chinese authorities have not yet allowed the mass import of Nvidia H200 accelerators, despite approval from the US. The final rules are still being formulated — officials are consulting with developers to assess the need for imported chips. It is expected that the first small batch may be approved at the end of the month, but its volume will be limited. One of the conditions may be the mandatory parallel purchase of local accelerators.
The authorities are also studying the demand for more modern Nvidia Blackwell chips, whose deliveries were initially planned but were blocked. The head of Nvidia expressed hope for their delivery in the future, but only after more advanced solutions become available to customers in the US.
