Developers from Dovetail Games, the team behind Train Sim World, announced that the adventure title Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor is slated to hit PC and consoles on March 17. Mark it down if you grew up watching the engines—or if you just enjoy charming, low-stress driving sims.
You’ll hop into the cab with Thomas and co., taking direct control of several engines from the North Western Railway. Expect familiar faces: Thomas, Diesel, Emily, Gordon, Percy — and yes, you can drive them. Play feels aimed at accessibility (i.e., simpler controls than many modern sims), but there are moments that might surprise longtime fans.
Eight separate adventures are included, each carrying its own mood and story arcs; narration comes from Mark Moraghan, one of the show’s original narrators, whose voice should hit the nostalgia button for many players.
Introducing Percy! 💚 Arriving 17th March 2026 to Steam, PlayStation and Xbox. Nintendo Switch is coming soon.
Routes will look familiar to series followers: Main Line, Thomas’s Branch, Knapford Harbour, etc. The island is open to explore freely, so you can wander off the beaten track and uncover extra stories and in-game achievements if you feel like poking around (e.g., hidden side tasks).
The devs point to Unreal Engine and Simugraph tech as the backbone for the visuals and physics; according to them, those tools helped craft a detailed world with controls tuned for ease of use. Take that as the official line — whether it matches your playstyle will be personal.
You can buy/play on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store) as well as on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch — PC players: you’ll see the usual storefront options (Steam, EGS, MS).
There will be no Russian localization in Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor.
