No "Buffy" Reboot for Us — The Series Has Been Cancelled
Hulu has pulled the plug on the new "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reboot. The call came roughly a year after the pilot was ordered (i.e., about 12 months) — insiders labeled that pilot "ambiguous," which apparently summed up more than its tone. Chloe Zhao, a longtime fan who had been attached to direct, seemed to be steering toward a vision some felt didn't mesh with the franchise's established vibe.
Sarah Michelle Gellar was lined up to return as the iconic Slayer and to serve as a producer; the part of the new Slayer had been earmarked for Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Nora and Lilla Zuckerman wrote the screenplay. Gellar herself confirmed the cancellation on social media.
