The Spiritual Successor to Mirror’s Edge — Parkour Action Game Panline in New Videos

Mirror’s Edge is still on ice at EA, so a small indie team, Viridian Matters, decided to try their hand. Their project, Panline, reproduces DICE’s aesthetic and tone so convincingly that early gameplay clips were widely mistaken for AI-generated footage of EA’s series — people actually thought neural nets had created the videos, which is as telling as it is weird.

Panline drops players into a shining dystopia: a future city of snow‑white skyscrapers. You take the role of a freerunner from the Charter gang — basically a network of couriers and intermediaries, i.e., folks who manage the flow of information. In that setting basic goods are free; status and exclusivity become the de facto currency. It looks slick, and yes, a bit unsettling (in a good way?).

The devs expect Panline to enter Steam Early Access sometime during 2026 — ETA: 2026 — but no exact date has been announced yet. I’m curious to see whether the mechanics will match the visuals.
