ENTITY: THE BLACK DAY Release — A Psychological Action-Thriller in an Atmosphere of Unrelenting Darkness
ASD Games Studio has officially released ENTITY: THE BLACK DAY, now available on PC via Steam. The project is described as a tense action-thriller with elements of psychological horror, where fear originates not only from external threats but also from the depths of the protagonist’s mind.
The game's setting is an unnamed city shrouded in eternal darkness. The player becomes part of a terrifying story: their character has lost memory and is caught in the midst of inexplicable, ominous events. As they navigate through labyrinths of abandoned buildings and underground tunnels, the hero faces not just physical dangers but must also confront their own demons. The line between reality and nightmare gradually blurs, and the surrounding world increasingly distorts under the weight of growing terror.
The key strength of ENTITY: THE BLACK DAY lies in its atmosphere. The developers have deliberately omitted conventional game hints: there are no health indicators or mini-maps. Players must rely solely on their intuition, observance, and ability to read signs in the environment. Muted colors, unsettling sound design, and intentionally jarring scene cuts create a sense of constant threat from which there is no escape.
Interactivity of the environment plays a crucial role. Almost any item can become a survival tool: broken lamps can provide temporary light, and old newspapers can be used to create a distracting fire. However, resources are extremely limited, and every decision carries consequences. For example, turning on a flashlight may help reveal a path but could also attract the attention of unseen stalkers.
A special feature in the gameplay is the system of the protagonist's psychological state. As stress increases, reality begins to distort: walls seem to come alive and "breathe," ghostly silhouettes flicker in corners, and sounds merge into an indistinct hum. At moments of extreme tension, the player encounters hallucinations — they can either hint at the correct path or lead into a deadly trap.
The game's storyline is nonlinear: the ending depends on the decisions made and the level of the character's mental exhaustion. Locations dynamically change after each playthrough, and enemies appear in unpredictable places, making each new journey unique. The depth of the world is revealed through a carefully crafted lore — its fragments are hidden in newspaper scraps, ciphered messages on walls, and secret recordings waiting to be discovered.
For experienced players, there is a special "Madness" mode: here, visual prompts are completely disabled, and enemies become significantly more aggressive. To maximize immersion, using headphones is recommended — the game's sound palette plays a key role in creating the oppressive atmosphere.
