Legion Go S by Lenovo became the first portable PC on SteamOS not by Valve. At CES 2026, Lenovo introduced a new version of its flagship Legion Go 2 — originally launched only with Windows onboard, but soon a version with Valve's OS will be available.

The specifications of the Legion Go 2 on SteamOS remain the same: an 8.8-inch OLED screen with variable refresh rate, AMD Ryzen Z2 series processors, up to 32 gigabytes of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, Hall sensor joysticks, and the main killer feature — detachable controllers like the Nintendo Switch. More details can be found in this article.

Many prefer SteamOS as it is better optimized for portable devices. Additionally, unlike Windows, SteamOS features a simpler interface. However, there will be one system difference in the upcoming version — SteamOS does not support biometric login, so using a fingerprint scanner on the Legion Go 2 won't be possible.

Lenovo plans to start selling the SteamOS version of the Legion Go 2 in June 2026, starting at $1,199. It is still unclear how many configurations the company will release.

As a reminder, the version of the portable PC with pre-installed Windows 11 hit the shelves at the end of October 2025.
