The Lord of the Rings Online Team Unveils Roadmap for the First Half of 2026

The Lord of the Rings Online is kicking off 2026 with a clear plan for the upcoming year, building on what the team describes as the strong momentum achieved in 2025. As the MMO enters its 19th year, the focus is on steady content updates, quality-of-life improvements, and further refinement of core systems.

The first quarter of 2026 begins with a minor update related to the Kingdoms of Harad expansion. This update will unlock the Moor Ghâl dungeon cluster, add additional reputation rewards, fix bugs, and continue targeted class adjustments. The team also plans to implement the first phase of UI scaling with this release—a long-requested feature by many players.

In February, Update 47, Folly of Kings, launches, expanding daily quests and missions and opening a new raid tied to Kingdoms of Harad. This update also includes additional class tuning, bug fixes, and general quality-of-life improvements. As part of the Q1 development plan, players can also expect enhancements to the Spring Festival.

The real action heats up in the second quarter of 2026. Update 48: A Glorious Hunt will add a new quest pack, a new zone, and a dungeon, scheduled for late May or early June. The update also marks the release of housing in Rivendell and content celebrating the game's 19th anniversary.

Beyond the development plan, the team is exploring broader performance improvement opportunities, further class development, and a return to the main storyline in the northern regions of Middle-earth. Regular quarterly updates are planned throughout the year.
