A New Hope for Western MMORPGs: Scars of Honor Developers Discuss the Class System

Venelin and Alexander from Bits & Beasts held a stream dedicated to the future class system of the MMORPG Scars of Honor.

The developers are fundamentally revising the approach to character progression: instead of being rigidly tied to the role of a tank or healer, players will gain access to an extensive talent tree. This will allow them to freely choose abilities, creating hybrid builds without needing to change class. A mage who invests in defense will transform into a battlemage capable of taking a hit.

The class design is honed for adaptability and dynamism. The Assassin has lost permanent invisibility—stealth is now used tactically for specific maneuvers. The Priest will be able to actively intervene in the course of battle using exorcism, while the Warrior focuses on aggression and weapon-switching. The Necromancer and Mystic will concentrate on weakening enemies, and the announced Pirate class will combine fencing, sea magic, and heavy artillery.

All changes are in the active testing phase. If abilities do not provide the desired dynamism, they are completely reworked, so the final version of the system may differ from what has been presented.
