Game Tests Failed
Haven Studio, developing the online shooter Fairgame$ for Sony, may lay off around 50 employees. The reason is unsatisfactory results from internal game tests, according to insider Detective Seeds. Contract workers have already been notified that their contracts will not be renewed.
Fairgame$ was announced in 2023 as a competitive heist shooter. After the latest testing, it became clear the project is not ready for release. However, further development requires people, so the decision not to renew contracts seems strange.
Western publications link the situation to the upcoming Marathon: Sony might be waiting for its release to gauge demand for heist games. There is no talk of closing the studio yet.
