Dark and Darker's Eighth Season Has Begun
The eighth season of Dark and Darker has launched, marked by a major reset and significant gameplay changes. All achievements have been wiped, and character levels, inventory, storage, reward tokens, karma, quests, affinity, and triumph levels have been reset to give players equal starting conditions in the updated world.
The main novelty of the season is the Firedeep dungeon, the second level of the Goblin Caves. This is a sinister labyrinth saturated with heat and danger: lava rivers bubble, stone blocks collapse, and unbearable heat turns every foray into an exhausting struggle for survival.
The developers have significantly reworked key mechanics. The movement and combat system has become smoother and more intuitive: the outcome of skirmishes is now determined not by knowledge of obscure techniques, but by the player's tactics and reaction. At the same time, a large-scale revision of the economy has been carried out — its goal is to support a variety of playstyles, improve the "risk-reward" balance, add new points of interest, and provide a sense of progression even after defeats.
Fighters and Barbarians have received fresh skills and perks, including Disarm, Whirlwind, and Grappling Hook. Furthermore, a new race has been added to the game — Dwarves, details about which will be revealed later.
An important change concerns the Seeker rank: its progress is now summed across all modes — PvE, Normal, and High-Roller. Increasing the rank grants access to dangerous campaigns and generous seasonal rewards.
For those who want to stand out, a seasonal DLC pack has been released with new cosmetic items that can emphasize style even in the inferno of Firedeep.
The season started with a three-week "Solo Self Found" event, during which the trading post and market will remain closed until February 20, 2026. A Twitch Drops campaign will run from January 30 to February 19, and the pre-season arena will open on January 30. In this test mode, only "Epic" class items are available, and defeat will not lead to the loss of equipment. The collected data will help balance the official arena season, which is scheduled to start on February 20, 2026.
Every player can receive the "EAS 8 Welcome Delivery" starter kit via the "Post Express" service (tab at the Expressman). This package is designed to help start the season effectively under the new conditions.
