An Updated Version of Classic Final Fantasy VII Has Been Released — And It's Terrible
An updated version of Final Fantasy 7 has been released on Steam and GOG, replacing the original edition. The new version includes triple speed, the ability to disable random encounters, a battle assist mode with health recovery, and an autosave feature. However, players are extremely dissatisfied.
The game turned out to be completely unoptimized — not only is there a 30 FPS cap, but it frequently drops to 15 FPS. At the time of publication, Final Fantasy 7 has only 36% positive reviews on Steam.
The story revolves around the conflict with the Shinra Corporation in the city of Midgar. The rebel group "Avalanche" and the mercenary Cloud Strife fight for the fate of the planet.
