The world around "The Soul Collector" (Longlegs) is widening: filmmaker Osgood Perkins ("The Creep") has begun work on a spin-off. He’s attached in multiple capacities, e.g., he'll write, direct and produce the new picture. Nicolas Cage ("Spider-Man: Noir") is slated to return as the satanist maniac.

Plot specifics remain under wraps; the project is meant to be separate rather than a straightforward continuation.

The 2024 film takes place in the 1990s. FBI agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) dives into a baffling case that has no clear leads—over decades, for reasons unknown, fathers from different families end up killing relatives and then themselves. Each scene is left with cryptic messages that resist decoding.

Unlike the earlier release from Neon, this new entry will be produced by Paramount Pictures.

The original 2024 movie set several records; one cited was "the record among independent horror releases over the past decade." It also achieved notable box office results in Russia.

In August last year, Perkins said he’d started work on a coming-of-age horror called The Young People.
