Project Windless Creator Explains Why the Main Character Will Be a Giant Rooster

A giant bloodthirsty rooster stole the show at the latest State of Play and, judging by the players' reaction, became the main discovery of the presentation. Project Windless — an open-world action game based on the Korean fantasy cycle "The Bird That Drinks Tears" — attracted everyone's attention thanks to a three-meter-tall warrior rooster towering over his enemies.

Creative Director of Krafton Montreal, Patrick Mete, admitted that the team consciously bet on shock value. The developers had a choice of four races for the Hero-King: an ordinary human, a dokkaebi (Korean equivalent of a goblin), an immortal reptilian nhaga, and a giant bird. The rooster won — and judging by the hype, not without reason.

Details about the game are still hidden. The developers are in no hurry to reveal whether it will be possible to customize the character, and they give evasive answers to the question about possible romantic relationships for the massive rooster — Mete neither confirmed nor denied this possibility, leaving fans room for theories.

However, one thing is known for sure: contrary to the title of the source material, the hero will not drink tears — that is just a metaphor.
