The Artist Whose Works Bungie Stole Is Credited as a Consultant in Marathon
Bungie reached a settlement with artist Antireal after her pieces were used in Marathon without permission. The studio owned up to the mistake and attributed it to an employee who was later dismissed. After an internal review, Antireal’s name showed up in the game credits — listed as a freelance visual design consultant. To me, that credit feels like a small patch over a messy situation.
“In Bungie’s first-person PvPvE extraction shooter — i.e., you step into the biocybernetic shell of the Runner and enter the abandoned Tau Ceti IV colony in search of loot — surviving is the real challenge.”
