Musk sued OpenAI, which he himself co-founded with partners in the past

Elon Musk is demanding compensation from OpenAI and Microsoft ranging from $79 billion to $134 billion as part of his lawsuit. According to him, he was deceived when the company departed from its non-profit principles upon entering a partnership with Microsoft, thereby depriving him of a potential share in a business now valued in the hundreds of billions.

The lawsuit was filed after the court rejected OpenAI and Microsoft's request to avoid a jury trial, which is set to begin in late April. Musk's lawyers argue that the amount of compensation should correspond to his potential share in the current valuation of the company, not be limited to his initial investment of $38 million.

OpenAI has called the lawsuit unfounded and part of a "harassment campaign" by Musk. Microsoft declined to comment.

Recall that Musk founded OpenAI in 2015 but left its board of directors in 2018 and later created his own AI company, xAI.
