Almost 5 GHz on a Graphics Card — Radeon RX 9060 XT Sets Absolute World Overclocking Record

The world of extreme overclocking has been shaken by a new achievement — the mid-budget Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics card has managed to surpass a barrier that recently seemed impossible. The famous overclockers Splave and Sampson, joining forces with AMD engineers, pushed the graphics chip to a phenomenal frequency of 4.769 GHz. This is not just a slight improvement over the previous result, but a true leap into the future, as the previous record for discrete cards barely crossed the 4 GHz mark.

The most surprising thing is that the record was set not by an expensive flagship, but by a mid-range graphics card. Under normal conditions, its boost clock is about 3.13 GHz, but under liquid nitrogen and with extreme voltage increases, the chip managed to add another 50% to its speed. According to the overclockers themselves, they initially aimed for around 4.4–4.5 GHz, but the "hardware" turned out to be so compliant that the result exceeded all expectations, bringing the industry tantalizingly close to the coveted 5 GHz milestone. Of course, there is no talk of 5 GHz on graphics chips in regular user PCs yet, but in a few generations, anything is possible — after all, 3 GHz is already considered the norm today.
