Skull and Bones Stays Afloat — Developers Share Plans for Season 4
The third season of Year 2 for Skull and Bones is drawing to a close. A new letter from the producers provided a recap of this season, community feedback and its impact, as well as some of the new features coming in Year 2, Season 4, "Eye of the Beast."
A large portion of the letter is a review of what was added, what the developers learned, and how they plan to improve the game. This season saw several key features and two ships added: the War Sloop and the Elite Warship. The team also introduced "Faction Warfare" this season after some delay. "Faction Warfare" gave Skull and Bones a new competitive endgame.
Season four will introduce some changes to this mode and expand the conflict. Bonuses will also change based on faction control, adding an extra layer of strategy. Each battle phase will have at least three contested territories. In Season 3, when only two territories were contested simultaneously, the situation almost always became very one-sided. Therefore, the decision was made to add another contested territory to fight over to prevent this from happening again.
Territory Control is a new feature for Season 4, and it will draw your Manufactories into the conflict. While on a contested territory, you can produce war resources at three locations simultaneously. The Manufactory Raid is a new event that allows you to capture Manufactories for your Helm Empire. This means you'll have to defeat enemy ships and fill a capture bar to gain control and earn war resources.
An expansion to the Armor Ascension system will improve the item ascension system. Mythic Mods will enhance item ascension, and alongside them, further changes and improvements are expected, aimed at reducing the influence of random factors.
