Razer Unveils Project AVA: Personal Holographic AI Companion
Razer pulled back the curtain on Project AVA, a prototype that aims to behave less like a gadget and more like a presence at your desk. It mixes assistant-like chores with coaching and gaming companionship — an odd blend that, yes, sounds a little like sci‑fi. Whether it will land as a practical everyday tool or remain a cool concept is TBD.
At its core sits an interactive 5.5-inch (≈14 cm) 3D holographic avatar. You’ll be able to pick from different characters, each built with distinct personalities. The face work is meant to feel lifelike: eye-tracking drives gaze, facial motion is rendered to read natural, and animations run smoothly in real time. Visuals for the final roster are still being tweaked.
AVA’s functionality goes far beyond gaming:
- Life organization: scheduling, hands-on help with routine tasks, outfit suggestions and recipe ideas.
- Creativity and work: project feedback, ideation sessions and on-demand brainstorming.
- Gaming: in-game coaching — tactical analysis and breaking down mechanics.
Under the hood it’s built on open architecture. Right now AVA runs on the xAI Grok engine, w/ plans to accept other AI platforms later, including Razer AI work. That openness is more a promise than a finished ecosystem at this stage.
The device hooks to Windows PCs via USB-C. You’ll find Razer Chroma RGB lighting, physical controls on the unit, and an onboard speaker for voice and sound.
Razer is targeting a commercial launch in H2 2026. Pre-orders are already open on Razer’s website for customers in the USA.
