New Microsoft Gaming Boss Poses as a Gamer, But the Internet Instantly Sees Through the Primitive Deception
New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma had barely taken office before becoming the target of intense scrutiny from internet detectives. The reason was her personal Xbox profile, which Sharma herself revealed on social media.
Inquisitive minds instantly dug up curious details: the account was created just a month ago, but in that time managed to rack up over 10,000 Gamerscore points across a wide variety of games. However, the pattern raises questions — for example, 43 hours in just Ball x Pit in one week and rare achievements in Minecraft.
A theory instantly emerged in the community: the profile is being artificially boosted to give the new CEO "validity" in the eyes of skeptical gamers. The achievements are supposedly easy to get, and in Minecraft, special servers for farming achievements are allegedly being used.
Suspicions are further fueled by the fact that the game list is packed with flagship Xbox franchises — Halo, Forza, Fallout, Borderlands. It's as if someone is diligently crafting the image of a "one of the gang" executive.
The account itself was created on January 15th — exactly one month before her appointment. Her friends list includes a couple of Xbox employees and Phil Spencer himself.
Sharma responds to direct questions with irony: "I'm not XboxP3 to you" (a nod to Spencer) and "Beep-boop" in response to suggestions that the account is run by an AI. Moreover, when one user recommended Borderlands 2 to her, Sharma promised to try it — and an hour later, her profile was spotted in the game.
Of course, it could all be chalked up to the paranoia of angry fans looking for something to criticize after the sudden leadership change. Sharma comes from the world of AI and has no background in the gaming industry — the perfect target.
But another possibility can't be ruled out: the new CEO simply decided to approach her job responsibly and spent a month intensively familiarizing herself with the products she now has to develop. Although, no one believes that either.
