Railroad Corporation 2 Reaches Version 1.0 and Leaves Early Access

Time to dust off the stationmaster's cap — the release is here, but without Russian language support

Today, Railroad Corporation 2 officially left Early Access and received its version 1.0 release. The developers spent over a year polishing the project, adding systems, tweaking balance, and actively discussing upcoming features. Now, all of this has been declared "fully integrated," and players are invited to build their railroad empires in the final version.

The 1.0 release highlights several key changes. New locomotives have been added to the vehicle roster, including the legendary Big Boy — making it not only more efficient but also a bit more prestigious to lay down main lines. The AI rival system is now operational, making competition more dynamic and forcing players to think a bit more carefully (or a bit more cunningly) about network expansion. The economic side has also grown: production chains have been enriched with new goods — from fruit orchards to beverages and canned goods — adding fresh logistical challenges.

And here's where it gets particularly interesting for the Russian-speaking audience. Despite the 1.0 release, the Russian language is absent from the game. Completely. No interface, no subtitles. In an era where localization often becomes standard even for niche projects, such a decision looks... let's say, bold. Especially for a game about planning, numbers, and managing supply chains, where understanding the text is not the most useless feature. The first game in the series did have Russian localization.

On Steam, the project currently has 273 reviews, and its rating remains at "Mostly Positive." This means players are generally satisfied rather than not — although the concurrent player count at the start of version 1.0, according to SteamDB, was 71. The all-time peak concurrent player count is 305 users.
