Dell Found a Way to Defeat Melted Connectors: Screw It Down Tight
The issue of melted connectors on NVIDIA graphics cards has driven Dell to take radical measures. In the pre-built Dell EBT2250 PC with an RTX 5070 Ti, the company's engineers have permanently screwed the 16-pin connector to the card using a metal bracket, eliminating even the slightest chance of a poor connection.
Inside the system unit, a 1000W LITEON power supply is used, but without the native 16-pin cable — instead, an adapter to two 8-pin PCIe connectors is installed. One end is rigidly fixed at the card, while the other connects in the standard way.
The solution seems excessive for the RTX 5070 Ti, which isn't the most power-hungry in the lineup, but Dell clearly doesn't want to take risks with warranty cases. In a closed case, this approach is justified, but for users accustomed to upgrades, it's a death sentence: removing the card without unscrewing the bracket is now impossible.
