NVIDIA Introduced DLSS 4.5 with Enhanced Frame Generation

The Consumer Electronics Show 2026 (CES) kicked off in Las Vegas, where high-tech companies showcase their latest developments with a glimpse into the future. During its presentation, NVIDIA unveiled an AI model for autonomous vehicles and brought robots onto the stage, but we'll focus on the announcements related to the gaming industry.

NVIDIA DLSS 4.5

The company announced a major update for its image scaling technology, NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS). Version 4.5 features an improved second-generation AI model and an entirely new 6x multi-frame generation mode for flagship RTX 50 series graphics cards.

The AI model has been trained to better recognize scenes in games, using data from the engine to enhance lighting and render movements more clearly. This aims to improve image quality and reduce graphical artifacts like "ghosting" and flickering.

As highlighted by product management director Henry Lin, the computational power of the second-generation model is five times that of the original AI model. This fully unleashes the potential of the GeForce RTX 40 and 50 series graphics cards with their faster tensor cores.

DLSS 4.5 is now available on all RTX cards but will perform best on the 40 and 50 series cards. This spring, the 6x multi-frame generation mode will launch for the 50 series cards, allowing for 4K gaming with a target refresh rate of 240 Hz. For every full frame, the system will render five additional frames instead of three in the previous version.

Spring will also see the introduction of a dynamic multi-frame generation mode for GeForce RTX 50 owners, compared by NVIDIA to an automatic transmission for a graphics card. In this mode, the system automatically switches between various fps multipliers to find the ideal balance between frame rate, image quality, and responsiveness.

In heavy graphic scenes, the system "shifts to a higher gear," enhancing frame generation to compensate for fps drops and maintain perfectly smooth imagery on high-frequency monitors. Once the load decreases, it smoothly reduces the "rpm," creating only the necessary minimum frames.

Demonstration of NVIDIA Technologies in Upcoming Games

DLSS 4 launched in January 2025, and since then, the number of games supporting the technology has exceeded 250 titles. This number will continue to grow with new releases. Below are some examples:

  • 007 First Light by IO Interactive will support DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation. To ensure the environment looks natural, the team designed a system of volumetric smoke and fog. 007 First Light will also feature an updated AI system to make NPC interactions feel less artificial.
  • On PC, Pragmata will receive DLSS 4 support and path tracing, providing more natural reflections, shadows, and indirect lighting, enhancing immersion and realism. Pragmata will also include multi-frame generation.
  • The creators of Resident Evil Requiem prepared a trailer showcasing path tracing on PC. The "ninth" installment will also feature DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation.
  • When Phantom Blade Zero launches in September 2026, it will support DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation. The PC version will have exclusive features like ray-traced reflections and shadows.
  • The online PvPvE shooter Active Matter from Gaijin Entertainment will include DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation, ray-traced global illumination, shadows and reflections, as well as NVIDIA Reflex support to reduce input lag.
  • The cyberpunk shooter DEFECT will feature DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation at launch. emptyvessel studio prepared an exclusive trailer demonstrating the technologies.

Briefly About Other Announcements
