In a few hours the Owlcat Games team will appear at the Xbox Partner Preview to drop a new trailer for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Before that video lands, the devs talked to PC Gamer and handed over material focused on the people you’ll crew the Osiris with.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a third-person sci‑fi action RPG tied to the books/TV show "The Expanse." Events run alongside the first two books/seasons, centering on Pinkwater — a security merc who survived Eros and now captains the rebuilt Osiris. He (or she — your playthrough) gathers a new crew and gets pulled into the Solar System’s tangled politics.
J — Officer
The protagonist’s identical twin. (Yes: appearance is approximate — the game has a character editor, so J will mirror your PC in look and gender.) Personality-wise J is not a clone of your own choices; impulsive and loyal, they play the role of hot-headed right-hand. J’s exploit is precision. Note: the twin dynamic may change how NPCs react, esp. in dialogue.
Theo — Doctor
Loud, fierce, and a former military medic who lost his license back on Earth — Theo quips he was expelled before the Hippocratic Oath (i.e., not the most buttoned-up resume). On the battlefield he’s bulky, carries experimental stimulants, and patches people up under fire. Theo’s exploit is malfunction.
Regina — Communications Officer
A sniper-scout-saboteur type; terse description because Regina prefers secrets. She masks much of her past and motives, yet treats the protagonist as a useful asset in whatever schemes she runs. Regina’s exploit is precision — and she’ll test how much you trust her.
Alisha — Electronic Warfare Specialist
Left corporate life aiming for freedom and puzzles. Alisha likes complicated problems and is happiest when drones and enemy nets get dismantled under her fingers. In short: hacking + drone control. Alisha’s exploit is cyberattack (tech-heavy, for players who enjoy systems play).
Polly — Deckhand
A Belt native, young and chatty; she’s keen to prove herself rather than brood. Polly supplies sustained fire in fights — decent armor, good mobility, SMG at medium range. Her exploit is destruction. Expect optimism to be contagious (or annoying, depending on your mood).
Michael — Shooter
A merc by choice after losing faith in UN forces and private security firms. Michael is principled, haunted by past loss, and unfazed by jumping into the fray with a shield and automatic cannon. Michael’s exploit is destruction — blunt force, no subtlety.
Zafar — Engineer-Mechanic
Quiet, thoughtful, sometimes unexpectedly poetic. Zafar leans on turrets and EM devices to blunt and disable enemy hardware, then invites you to finish the job. His exploit is malfunction — tech control that reshapes the fight.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is being made in Unreal Engine 5 and slated for PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), plus PS5 and Xbox Series. Release date? Not announced — so for now it’s a waiting game.
