Lenovo Legion Go 2 Portable PC on SteamOS to Launch in June
The Legion Go S was the first portable PC running SteamOS that didn’t come from Valve — a small but notable detour. At CES 2026, Lenovo unveiled a new take on its flagship: the Legion Go 2, which started life as a Windows machine but will soon be offered with Valve’s "operating system" as well.
Hardware-wise the SteamOS model mirrors the Windows unit. Expect an 8.8-inch OLED display with variable refresh rate (VRR), AMD Ryzen Z2-series CPUs, up to 32 GB LPDDR5X-8000 RAM (e.g., plenty for multitasking), joysticks that use Hall sensors, and the removable controllers that recall the Switch’s approach. More details are laid out in this article.
Many people gravitate to SteamOS because it often runs better on handhelds and feels less cluttered than a full Windows install. Still, there’s a trade-off: SteamOS does not support biometric login — i.e., the built-in fingerprint scanner on the Legion Go 2 will be unusable, which will bother some buyers.
Lenovo says the SteamOS Legion Go 2 will go on sale in June 2026, starting at $1,199. How many trim levels the company will offer remains unclear. For context, the Windows 11 version reached stores at the end of October 2025.
