During an AMA session about Divinity on Reddit, a user asked if non-combat failures would be made more interesting, like in Disco Elysium, to reduce save-load instances.

Adam Smith, narrative director at Larian, replied that this is their goal. He noted that in the studio's new game, some of the most exciting and significant plot twists occur precisely after failures. He added that the developers are striving for this, but the success of their efforts will be judged by the players themselves.
