Well-known journalist and Microsoft insider Jez Corden has commented on rumors about the supposedly canceled horror game Project: MARA from Ninja Theory. The reason was numerous publications claiming the project was shut down to focus on developing a sequel — a potential Hellblade 3.
Corden refuted the very fact of cancellation. According to him, canceling the game simply made no sense: the horror title announced six years ago still only exists at the conceptual level. This means full-scale development never began — and therefore, there was no "cancellation" as such. In the future, the idea could be developed into a full game or evolve into a different project.
In a January podcast, Corden directly advised against expecting Project: MARA to materialize into a finished game anytime soon. He emphasized: with a high degree of probability, Ninja Theory's next work will indeed be a continuation of the Hellblade universe — tentatively called Hellblade 3. This project is expected to target a broader audience. Meanwhile, a return to the horror concept is theoretically possible in the future, but active development is not currently underway.
