Italy launches investigation into diablo immortal and call of duty mobile over aggressive monetization

In Italy, the antitrust authority AGCM has initiated an investigation into Activision Blizzard. The reason is the monetization practices in the mobile games Diablo Immortal and Call of Duty: Mobile, which, according to the regulator, violate consumer rights.

The authority is examining aggressive methods of promoting in-game purchases, including deceptive interface elements, as well as the virtual currency system, the real cost of which may not be obvious to players, including minors. The parental control system is also under scrutiny, which, according to AGCM, is set to a low level by default in these games, failing to restrict purchases.

The company has not yet commented on the situation.
