The strategy game Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era got a new gameplay clip. It zooms in on the Dungeon faction — dark elves mixed with monstrous creatures and dragons — and highlights several of the faction’s distinctive units. There will be six factions in total; each one arrives with its own commander and a characteristic stronghold, along with an army to lead.
The video lets you see Dungeon troops in combat: how they attack, what special moves they use, and how some units evolve. Units are unlocked by constructing the appropriate building — e.g., upgrading that building yields higher-tier variants — and stronger structures turn out tougher fighters (i.e., better stats, new abilities).
Earlier the developers also revealed an overhauled Necropolis. The original look didn’t sit well with many players, so a redesign followed — hardly surprising given the feedback.
Olden Era is slated for early access on PC in 2026; the precise date is still unknown. It’s already been added to more than a million wishlists, which says something about interest levels.
If you want to poke around yourself, a demo exists. Players greeted it warmly: Steam reviews hover near 75% positive, and some folks even clocked absurdly long sessions — reports of 200+ hours. FWIW, it still feels a bit rough in places, but there’s definite potential.
