Hytale Pre-Orders Have Already Brought Developers a Lot of Money — Enough for Two Years of Development
Ahead of its early access release (starting January 13th), the Hypixel Studios team announced that pre-orders for the sandbox game Hytale have fully secured its funding for the next two years. Studio founder Simon Collins-Laflamme stated that, combined with his personal commitments, this guarantees a stable future for the project.
After its announcement in 2018 and the resulting hype, the game received investment from Riot Games, which later acquired it. However, development was delayed due to an engine overhaul. In 2025, Riot returned the rights to Collins-Laflamme, believing it would give the project a better chance. He essentially had to reassemble the team from scratch and get the core mechanics in order within a short timeframe.
