Hero Shooter Highguard from Apex Legends Creators Launches on Consoles and PC to Player Criticism
The hero-based team shooter Highguard, announced at The Game Awards 2025, has finally reached its promised release on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. However, despite positive feedback from early players, gamers at launch have received the free-to-play title much more reservedly.
Right now, the game from studio Wildlight Entertainment, founded by developers of Apex Legends, has only 29% positive reviews on Steam.
One of the most frequently cited issues is the game's poor optimization. Gamers are also dissatisfied with server problems and matchmaking, as well as the gameplay and content offerings.
In Highguard, players become Guardians who unite in squads and battle for control over a mythical continent.
Loot trophies, gather resources, and upgrade your arsenal in clashes with rival Guardian squads eager to capture your territory. Fight for possession of the legendary Shieldbreaker in the open world. Breach through to the enemy base with it to shatter their defenses, then destroy the enemy stronghold before they can crush yours.

Previously, the developers remained silent since the game's announcement at TGA 2025, which served as a cause for concern in the industry.
