A sniper, an anonymous radio call, and a packed stadium — Gerard Butler ("Greenland 2: Migration") has landed the lead in a new action thriller. Produced by Basil Ivanik and Erika Lee of Thunder Road ("John Wick"), the movie pulls from real episodes in the lives of special agents (SAs) rather than inventing everything from scratch.
The plot: a sniper gets an anonymous threat over the radio and suddenly has to protect his family and 70k fans at the World Cup — high pressure, no easy exits. The script comes from Aaron Benjamin ("Megalodon 2") and the search for a director is still underway, which is oddly exciting and a little risky — could swing either way depending on who signs on.
The project will be shopped at the Cannes Film Market during the festival running May 12–23 this year, with production slated to begin in Aug. 2027.
