Gearbox announced shared hero progression in Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 will get a Shared Progression system so you won't have to hunt down the same collectibles or re-unlock upgrades every time you swap characters. Fast travel points, SDU tokens, and other accrued bonuses (e.g., class unlocks and some progression flags) will stick with your account instead of being tied to a single hero.

According to Gearbox's deputy creative director, the plan is to roll this out by the end of March together with the new character C4SH. The team says the change is meant to cut down on the friction of switching classes — a welcome tweak for anyone who's switched mains mid-playthrough. If internal testing doesn't turn up major problems, Shared Progression should arrive in the coming weeks.
