Insider: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Survives Mass Game Cancellations at Ubisoft

Ubisoft has once again demonstrated its unparalleled business acumen, stunning everyone with news of canceling a slew of projects, including the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. According to the official statement, the company axed six titles, but if we believe the insider Tom Henderson, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is not among them.

The sequel Beyond Good & Evil has been in development for an indecently long time—just like the now-defunct updated "Prince"—but it seems the bosses at Ubisoft couldn't bring themselves to cancel it. Let's recall that Beyond Good & Evil 2 was first shown to the public back in May 2008, but the current version of the project dates back to 2017.

As the insider writes, Ubisoft believes the sequel could still have a decent impact. However, when the game will see the light of day remains unknown. Earlier, the same Henderson wrote that Beyond Good & Evil 2 would be released after 2026. It's possible that the studio has revised the release timeline for the second part, as it has done for a number of other projects.

Update from January 23. Ubisoft confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in active development: "The game remains one of our key priorities within our strategy focused on open-world adventure games."

For example, according to Henderson, the launch of the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake has been pushed back by another year. Ubisoft stated that "an unannounced game planned for the current fiscal year had to be postponed until next year." Only the pirate-themed AC fits this description, the insider is sure.
