Fortnite Returns to Google Play After Years of Epic and Google Conflict
After a long period of back-and-forth, Fortnite is once again listed on Google Play. As of March 19, 2026 Android users can grab the battle royale straight from the official store—no sideloading, no third-party APKs required (i.e., everything comes from Google Play).
This followed a negotiated end to the dispute over store listing rules and payment flows—less a dramatic victory than a practical truce between Epic and the platform owners. The title had already reappeared on the App Store in 2025 after being absent for five years; now Google’s marketplace has made its own move.
To get back in the game: download the app, sign into your account, and you should find all progress and purchases intact (e.g., skins, battle pass progress, stats).
