Filming of the New 'Resident Evil' Reboot Has Wrapped

Filming for the new movie in the 'Resident Evil' franchise has officially concluded in Prague. Key technician Robert Kodera announced this on social media, posting a joint photo with the film's cinematographer, Dariusz Wolski.

The production process began in October 2025 and lasted until January 2026. Prague served as the primary location. The districts of Holešovice and Karlín were transformed into a ruined Raccoon City using sets, special effects, and artificial snow. Some exterior scenes were filmed in the mountainous regions of the Czech Republic, where synthetic snow was also used.

Zach Cregger is directing the film. It will present an original story with new characters within the Resident Evil universe, while retaining recognizable franchise elements—specifically, the Umbrella Corporation and the Raccoon City Police Department.

The protagonist of the story is Brian, a medical courier played by Austin Abrams. According to the plot, during a nighttime delivery on a snowy road, he hits an unknown woman on the highway. This event becomes the starting point for a series of dramatic incidents: Brian gets drawn into a story involving an outbreak of an unknown epidemic, mutated creatures, and a corporate conspiracy.

Other actors involved in the project include Kaleigh Rae, Zach Cherry, and Paul Walter Hauser.
