Fallout Creator Tim Cain Shares His Daily Routine During the Game's Development
Tim Cain, the creator of the original Fallout, has published a video detailing his work schedule during the game's development at Interplay Entertainment. According to him, the days were long but filled with enthusiasm.
Cain started his day at 6 a.m., was in the office by seven, and wrote code until meetings began. He worked approximately 12 hours a day, often returning home after dark. On Saturdays, which he called "Timmy time," he did additional programming—creating tools and features requested by his colleagues.
Despite the grueling pace, the developer claims he did this voluntarily, out of love for the project. Cain noted that the "culture of crunch" at the time seemed natural, but today he understands that such an approach was unsustainable.
"I'm glad things have changed," he said. "But it was absolutely amazing."
Recall that Tim Cain recently returned to Obsidian Entertainment and also urged gamers not to argue about games and named the main problem with modern RPGs.
