Expedition 33 Could Have Been the Main Inspiration for the New Game by the Studio Behind Stellar Blade
The portal Need4Games has tossed out fresh tidbits about a Shift Up project. It isn’t the follow-up to Stellar Blade; instead the chatter centers on Project Spirits (formerly Project Witches).
Early reports from the same sources described Project Spirits as a PvE hunting title. Later word, however, claims the gameplay shifted toward turn-based mechanics and that the team looked to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for inspiration. Also: it’s said to be a gacha experience—random draws for characters/items, paid with in-game currency (i.e., players roll for roster pieces).
A wrinkle in the story: the announcement on Shift Up Korea reportedly fell flat with staff — reactions were lukewarm, not celebratory. Development is apparently happening in China with only light backing from the Korean side; the Korean devs (devs = developers) are said to be concentrating on Stellar Blade 2 right now.
Remember: these are rumors. Project Spirits isn’t expected out before 2027, and its publisher will be a Tencent subsidiary.
