Dota 2 Analyst Accuses 1win of Incompetence for Forfeiting Match and Proposes Rules

Former professional player and Dota 2 analyst Khaled "sQreen" El-Khabbash criticized the management of 1win Team. The reason was an incident at the FISSURE Universe: Episode 8 Play-In tournament, where the team forfeited a match against Aurora Gaming to make it to a game in another tournament — PGL Wallachia.

The Essence of the Complaint

According to sQreen, the blame for what happened lies solely with the club's management (CEO or head of the Dota 2 division). Khaled believes that the leadership should have calculated the risks in advance and chosen one of the strategies:

  1. Refuse the second map at FISSURE in advance.
  2. Play the match to the end, sacrificing the second tournament.
  3. Publicly announce a time limit (e.g., 30 minutes) so fans and bettors understand the risks.

"This statement was not made, which shows the incompetence of the responsible people, or rather the lack of understanding of this responsibility in general," the analyst stated.

sQreen's Reform Plan

  • For organizations: Publicly notify about time constraints or receive a technical defeat in advance.
  • For tournament operators: Introduce strict fines and bans for such antics.
  • For bookmakers: Process bet refunds in such force majeure situations, despite formal settlement rules.

Manager's Response and Mantis's Irony

The situation escalated after 1win manager Ivan "4SV" Karpov attempted to explain the team's decision. He stated that he asked PGL to reschedule the match (was refused) and did not want to deprive the team of even a "small chance" to advance further in FISSURE.

Analysis

sQreen called these justifications contradictory. According to his logic, with a 0:1 score in the series, it's impossible to play a full BO3 and make it to the other tournament on time.

"It's interesting how there could be the slightest chance to advance further here... Even if you fast-track to a 1:1 score in the series, YOU CANNOT possibly play PGL on time."

Colleague's Sarcasm

Caster Ernar "Mantis" Urazbayev joined the discussion, commenting on the situation with sarcasm:

"The CEO... should personally notify the magistrate and me about the approximate number of frags, the estimated game duration, and if possible, inform if the team does not intend to win," Mantis ironically noted.

It was previously reported that the PARIVISION team will not be able to participate in the upcoming FISSURE Universe: Episode 8 tournament. The team officially withdrew from the competition, freeing up its slot in the bracket for another participant.

The day before, the Russian team Virtus.pro ended its run at the FISSURE Universe: Episode 8 tournament. The team suffered a defeat in the lower bracket final and left the championship, stopping just one step away from the decisive match.
