Didn't take off: the series "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" will not get a third season
"Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" won't return after Season 2 — Paramount+ and CBS Studios have already wrapped filming on the final eps. Critics were mostly kind (87% on Rotten Tomatoes, RT), but the show never drew a wide audience and failed to hit Nielsen's top 10.
The plot about 32nd-century cadets, led by Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti, will therefore end almost as soon as it began. As for the broader TV future of the franchise, it's murky: "Strange New Worlds" is moving ahead into a fifth season, yet there are no new TV projects actively in development right now. Paramount appears to be shifting its attention toward feature films, while the small-screen (TV) slate remains quiet.
No date has been announced for when the last episodes of "Academy" will premiere; that info is still being held back.
