Tesla Cybertruck Owner Sues Tesla After Her Vehicle Tried to Push a Woman Off an Overpass

A Tesla Cybertruck owner has filed suit after an incident she says occurred while the pickup was in autopilot. Her claim: the control system almost drove the truck off an overpass.

This happened at a highway interchange where the route required a right turn. Instead of turning, the autopilot kept going straight, passed through an intersection, and aimed toward the overpass edge. The truck struck a heavy road-sign support, which—she says—prevented a worse outcome. (Autopilot here refers to Tesla’s driver-assist system, i.e., the mode that’s meant to help with steering and speed.)

Her attorney contends the owner tried to override the system but couldn't regain control in time. The complaint also alleges there was no warning to indicate the vehicle was heading the wrong way.

The lawsuit names both Tesla and CEO Elon Musk. It accuses Musk of making long-standing, misleading statements about what the autopilot can and cannot do, and seeks relief based on those claims.
