Crimson Desert sold 2 million copies
The creators of Crimson Desert reported that the new release moved 2 million units on its launch day. The Pearl Abyss studio thanked players and vowed to "do everything possible" to keep them satisfied — a comforting line, though delivery will be watched closely.
Two million is a headline figure, esp. given the split reception from gamers and journalists. On Steam the score sits at about 58% positive, which undercuts the celebratory tone.
The devs are already trying to patch things. The first update was released a few hrs ago and brought some fixes and tweaks — small steps, not a magic wand.
The plot plays out on Pywel, a fantasy continent. Once the lead of the Grey Mane, the protag watched his squad fall apart after a night raid by the Black Bears. He later hunts down the remaining members to settle the score, and what starts as a revenge thread widens into a dangerous chain of events that pulls in his inner circle.
Pearl Abyss promised deep systems, long questlines, and eye-catching visuals; reality, for many players, didn't match that promise. Complaints range from clumsy controls and screen flicker to a general sense that the launch build feels rough around the edges — bugs, perf hiccups, inconsistent polish (and yes, people spelled it out in forums and reviews).
