Charismatic Tactical RPG NORSE: Oath of Blood Enters Early Access on Steam
Arctic Hazard studio has officially announced the release of the game NORSE: Oath of Blood into Early Access on the Steam platform. The project immerses players in the harsh world of Vikings, where Norse legends, bloody battles, and difficult moral choices intertwine.
At the heart of the plot is the story of a young warrior, Gunnar, whose tribe was destroyed and whose father, Jarl Gripr, was killed by the ruthless Steinar. Exiled and left homeless, the hero embarks on a path of vengeance. He must rebuild a settlement, gather loyal fighters, forge strategic alliances, and lead a campaign of retribution. The game's scenario was created with the involvement of Giles Kristian, a renowned author of bestselling Viking novels, lending the narrative particular depth and historical authenticity.
NORSE: Oath of Blood is a turn-based tactical strategy where every decision carries weight. In battles, not only the skills of individual fighters are critical, but also their synergy, smart positioning on the battlefield, and the use of terrain features—elevations, flanking zones, and natural traps. Each warrior possesses a unique set of abilities, requiring thoughtful tactics and constant situational awareness from the player.
Beyond combat, a significant part of the gameplay involves settlement development. Starting from a small camp, the player gradually transforms it into a powerful fortress: assigning roles to inhabitants, managing resources, constructing and upgrading buildings. This unlocks new unit types and equipment necessary for survival in the harsh world. The crafting system plays an important role—players can create authentic weapons and armor, explore wild lands, trade with allies, and gather materials to strengthen the community.
On Gunnar's path, the player will face complex moral decisions that will determine the fate of his people. Will the hero be able to restore his father's legacy, or will Steinar's betrayal bring the saga to an end? The answer depends on the player's own actions.
The developers intend to actively improve the project over the next 6-12 months. They plan to expand the storyline, add new regions and branching narrative paths, diversify the arsenal of weapons and armor, enhance the settlement management system, and optimize performance while fixing potential bugs based on community feedback.
