Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Outsold Battlefield 6 in January
Leading Circana analyst Mat Piscatella presented a fresh report on video game sales in the USA for January 2026. The market continues to grow steadily: compared to last year, American spending on games increased by 3%, reaching a mark of 4.26 billion dollars.
The January sales chart once again confirmed the stability of gaming preferences. The legendary long-livers Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V are still holding on in the top ten, yielding only to the main new releases. Kingdom Come Deliverance II and Helldivers 2 also broke into the top 20, significantly improving their positions. The expansion of the audience also helped Final Fantasy VII Remake: the release on Xbox and Switch 2 secured the game a spot in the top ten.
The absolute leader of the month was Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which secured the first place. Battlefield 6 closed out the top five, while the second and third spots were occupied by the sports simulators NBA 2K26 and Madden NFL 26. Among other notable positions — the return of Minecraft to fourth place and the stable presence of Forza Horizon 5 in the top ten.
