Shock: Even Top Brand Headphones Are Slowly but Surely Harming Your Health

Do you love spending long hours with your headphones on—at the gym, at work, or just lounging on the couch? You might want to give your ears a break after reading this.

An investigation by the European project ToxFree LIFE for All has revealed shocking results: every single (!) pair of headphones tested contained substances hazardous to human health. Among them were carcinogens, toxins that damage fertility, and chemicals that cause feminization of male organisms.

Researchers purchased 81 models of in-ear and over-ear headphones from retail stores in the European Union and on online platforms Shein and Temu and sent them to a laboratory. The verdict is clear: "Hazardous substances were found in every product tested."

Even market giants like Bose, Panasonic, Samsung, and Sennheiser were implicated. Bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, chlorinated paraffins, and flame retardants were found in the plastic of their devices.

Scientists are particularly alarmed by bisphenol A, which mimics estrogen and is linked to a host of problems: from early puberty in girls to cancer. It was detected in 98% of the samples. Moreover, daily wearing, especially during workouts when heat and sweat accelerate the migration of chemicals, creates a "slow poisoning" effect. While a single dose is small, the chronic accumulation of a "cocktail" from various sources can deal a serious blow to the body.

Activists are calling for a total ban on entire classes of endocrine disruptors in consumer goods and demanding transparency from manufacturers. For now, companies prefer to remain silent: neither Bose, Samsung, nor other brands responded to journalists' inquiries.

And we are left alone with toxic accessories that have become an integral part of our lives.
