"Battle Passes" in Marathon Will Be Perpetual
At Bungie they’ve said seasons will reset in Marathon and new content will arrive with each one. But what about battle passes — the things players often worry about losing access to? The developers answered that question directly in a post they linked to here.
According to them, "Battle Passes" in Marathon don’t expire. Old passes remain purchasable if you decide later that you want them. In short: buying a pass won’t turn into a race against the season clock.
In Marathon...
- Seasonal gameplay content is free for all players to access or earn, including zones and Runner shells
- There is no pay for power
- Rewards Passes do not expire
- You can buy previous seasons' Rewards Passes if you wish
- You unlock rewards in your Rewards… — Marathon (@MarathonTheGame) March 5, 2026
Seasonal bits — e.g., Runner shells, zones, and PvE opponents — will be available to everyone at no extra cost. The free track of the “battle pass” hands out rewards paid in units of SILK, which you earn by playing; SILK is not sold for real money (i.e., you can’t buy it). Some cosmetics are gated behind codex tasks, so completing those in-game activities will unlock them.
If you want to spend cash, that’s used for premium passes and cosmetics, and for that the game uses a separate currency called LUX. Bungie insists there won’t be any way to buy power with real money in Marathon — purchases affect looks and progression tracks, not performance.
Marathon launches today at 21:00 Moscow time on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series with full Russian localization.
