ARK: Survival Ascended Developers Announce Major Updates for 2026-2027
Studio Wildcard has unveiled an extensive development plan for ARK: Survival Ascended for 2026-2027. Fans of the project can expect a whole series of major expansions, new tools for content creators, and regular content updates.
One of the notable announcements is the Survival of the Fittest project from the Studio Sirens team. This free mod will undergo a complete overhaul: developers will improve game mechanics, implement a competitive matchmaking system, and add reward cycles as part of the meta-game.
The story of Bob and Meeki will also continue in the Bob’s True Tales: Tides of Fortune expansion. The heroes will set out to find the Eternal Cave, which holds ancient secrets. Simultaneously, the updated Genesis Part 1 will offer players a rich maritime adventure. It will feature an ocean biome with realistic water physics, the ability to customize pirate ships, randomly generated semi-procedural islands and fortresses, as well as large-scale naval battles on the open sea.
Creative possibilities will also be significantly expanded: the studio will introduce the ASA World Creator tool. It will allow players to create and edit maps directly in the game—without the need to master the ARK Dev Kit or use a powerful computer. Users will be able not only to make edits to existing maps or generate new ones but also to place objects, configure spawners and volumes, and apply mods and skins. Finished works can be published via the Mod Browser. While the tool won't allow for creating new art assets or performing deep level design available in the full Dev Kit, it will be an optimal solution for novice authors and a convenient tool for experienced builders who want to create impressive visual compositions.
In December 2026, the release of the non-canonical expansion Dragontopia is planned. The project will immerse players in a mythical world of fire, stone, and sky and promises to radically change the familiar creature taming mechanics in ARK.
Another ambitious project will be the Atlantis map. It will continue to develop the aquatic mechanics introduced in Tides of Fortune and present Studio Wildcard's vision for water gameplay and world design in ARK. Players will encounter dynamic sea expanses and explore the depths of a huge sunken city.
The final chapter of Bob and Meeki's story will be revealed in the Bob’s True Tales: Galaxy Wars expansion within the updated Genesis Part 2. This time, the action moves to a space biome where a struggle for the fate of humanity will unfold. Players will have access to starfighters, bombers, capital ships, and colonizable planetoids.
The standalone expansion Legacy of Santiag deserves special attention. It will define the future of the franchise and offer players completely reworked gameplay mechanics, as well as a brand new way to interact with the ARK world. At the center of the plot is an epic quest where old and new heroes unite with survivors to confront an unknown force that has engulfed the planet Arat.
Furthermore, during the 2026-2027 period, Studio Wildcard plans to regularly release new content: players can expect fresh creatures, TLC updates (quality-of-life improvements), holiday events, performance optimizations (QOL), updated classic maps, and other surprises.
We strive to make ARK: Survival Ascended even more exciting and diverse. Every project in this plan is a step towards a new experience for our players.
All announced expansions and tools will be available on major platforms, including PC and consoles. The studio promises to announce exact release dates for individual projects separately.
