"Amazing" Hayao Miyazaki "full of energy" and working — Hideaki Anno checked personally
A year after his prior stop, Hideaki Anno visited Hayao Miyazaki again and made a few photos public — he kept the veteran director's plans to himself. The images show the two on the Nibariki studio porch and around its grounds; they were taken by a long-time Ghibli crew member, e.g., someone who worked on "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind." Over the last twelve months Miyazaki still hasn't shaved that rather stubborn beard.
Hayao Miyazaki still has a lot of energy and is happily at work on his beloved "paintings." He's quite something, really — I was a bit taken aback. The last photo was taken when Miya-san walked me out and, before I left, asked to shake my hand. After that I felt unexpectedly calm.
