8 Minutes of Code Vein II Gameplay
Later this month, Bandai Namco will release Code Vein II. With the release approaching, the developers have shared an overview trailer showcasing key gameplay elements through a mission playthrough.
In Code Vein II, the story follows a hunter trying to save the world from an apocalypse. In the game world, ordinary people coexisted with immortals until the latter began turning into monsters due to the emergence of the Rapture Moon. As the story progresses, the protagonist teams up with a mysterious girl named Lou, who can time travel. Together, they seek the truth and aim to avenge those responsible.
Alongside the release of the trailer, Bandai Namco lifted the embargo on preliminary reviews. Here’s what journalists observed from the closed demo:
- Code Vein II retains recognizable features from the original yet feels more like a standalone action RPG rather than just a sequel. The game significantly expands the combat mechanics and ideas of its predecessor, offering a plethora of customization options and an entirely distinct story.
- For each in-game weapon, you can set up four special abilities called "Forms." These are divided into three categories: combat, magical, and auxiliary.
- During their time-traveling journey, heroes will find new allies who will join their mission. Every companion has unique characteristics and storylines. The new video introduces one such character — Josie.
- Time travel and past decisions impact story development. For example, you can save Josie or leave things as they are to later fight her in the present when she becomes a monster.
Code Vein II will release on January 30 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series with Russian text localization.
